Unit IITourism Phenomenon :
Concepts, forms and types and nature, future trends, purpose of tourism, Economic, social, physical and environmental impacts of tourism. Motivations and factors for travel.
Unit IIITourism Organisation :
Internal Organisation - WTO, IATA, UFTAA, DATA, IATO, TAAI etc. Government organisation- Dept of Tourism and role of public sector ITPC and INDIAN AIRLINES.

Unit IIndia as a destination :
Tourist resources of India- culture religion folklore cuisine, dress craftsmanship etc. Preservation of culture for tourism purposes.
Unit IISocio Cultural Tourism:
Art and Architecture of India. Historical monuments of tourist importance. Ancient, Medieval and modern structures. Important historical archaeological museums, Art galleies and libraries. Music and Musical instruments, Handicrafts of India, fairs and festival of India.

Wild life sanctuaries, National Parks, Gardens, Mountain tourism, desert tourism, Coastal areas, beaches and islands, Back water tourism Practical Field trips to places of tourist interest.

Unit IIIHospitality management :
Hospitality management, Origin and evolution of a hotel, Types of accomdation, Classification and functions of a hotel. Accommodation as an essential tourism component.
